Seriously, I have looked at very overdone images - not necessarily nudes - and thought this is like porn. I can always find a few on the top photos page that are no holds barred sugary sweetness and saturation - they seem to me to be similar in essence. I guess its my taste - I also find dozens of images on PN that are stunningly well executed.

I don't think a porn photographer's first consideration (or even second or third) is the quality of the highlight rendering.

Response To Porn
I think the technique of photography is essentially the same straight across the board; light, camera, action. The only problem is that there are acceptable and unacceptable styles of doing photography, so where you draw that line and what you like or not is up to you, sort of...
By using the word Porn as we know it today, you are refering to an industry whose aim is not to benefit people equally, but then what business is these days. So until Porn is changed or developed into something more viable, there will remain very little art value in it, blown highlights or not.
Of course if you start the other way round, and take an artistic approach (assuming you have one) then you can make photos that will blow the socks and highlights off the Porn industry.
